Hi all,
The lovely team at the Smart Betting Club have reviewed my bets to date for the latest issue of the magazine, and they have kindly allowed me to share the review with you (see below).
My results are open and available to read on my page, but they’ve gone into admirable detail on various parts of my approach, including not only profit/loss and ROI, but Actual vs Expected, Percentage of Rivals Beaten, and Monte Carlo simulations to draw conclusions on potential drawdowns and betting banks.
Their conclusion is below:
John and the service he has created tick every box for what I personally look for in a tipster. Transparency, taking a long-term view, modesty and adaptability are all much underrated qualities in the ‘tipping space’ - he has all of them.
Alongside this, he also has something which is ultimately what we are all looking for – a demonstrable edge.
Our analysis above shows that his approach has been consistent over time and John’s openness and understanding of the dynamics of the market lead me to conclude that there is every chance that this will continue to be the case.
It is pleasing to see that John is ‘well ahead’ of what was my main question looking at Gwdihw Racing after the data was crunched – is there a better way to stake selections given the systems provide bets with such a disparate price range?
The SBC analysis above will no doubt be added to by John over time and this will provide current and prospective followers with different options that align with their personal risk profiles and reactions to things like drawdowns.
As John argues above, betting at BSP is practical, accessible and realistic for the vast majority of bettors and this is very much my favourite string to the service’s bow.
The fact that it is free makes it a ‘no brainer’ for me and I also love the introduction of the blogs on Substack where I can start to understand the processes and thinking that goes into this type of betting.
There are no short-term plans to introduce a charge for Gwdihw Racing so SBC Members have got plenty of time to try it out at no cost. Any future charge could actually be a net positive for followers as it will dissuade a ‘tragedy of the commons’ situation where BSPs are impacted upon by a heavy volume of backers.
With all of that in mind, I’d say that everyone can benefit from having a look at what John does with Gwdihw Racing. It’s profitable, you can adjust how you use it to suit your personal motivations/circumstances and you will learn a lot along the way.
Their analysis of the risks following a low(ish) strike rate (around 15%) approach like mine is very fair, and I’ve broadly found their contributions on staking approaches to mitigate drawdowns be very helpful in my own thoughts, and in the coming months I’ll be thinking about alternative staking approaches alongside my 1pt win approach to date.
Anyway, feel free to read the review in full and more broadly if you’re interested in bettors, tipsters and useful discussions I’d recommend having a look at the Smart Betting Club site for more information about them (including some deals and sales in the next few days, I believe). And no, I don’t have any affiliate relationships with them.
If you have any thoughts or questions after reading the review, feel free to drop me a message here via email or on BSky/X.
